42nd Annual Fall Conference on Obstetrics

Nestled on the pristine Seven Mile Beach, this vibrant destination offers an array of dining, recreational, and relaxation options that will make your stay at Grand Cayman unforgettable. Here’s a guide to weather, transportation, restaurants, activities, and spas in the Westin Resort and Grand Cayman area.

Passport and Travel Requirements for Cayman

For U.S. citizens departing from Grand Cayman and returning to the United States, the following guidelines are essential:

  • Passport Requirements: Americans traveling to Grand Cayman must possess a valid passport at the time of entry and time of exit. Ensure your passport expiration date is not within 6 months of travel or it will not be considered a valid form of identification.
  • Customs and Immigration: You will clear U.S. Customs and Immigration at your first point of entry in the United States. Make sure to have all necessary travel documents ready, including your passport and any required declarations. The Cayman Islands do not have U.S. Customs pre-clearance, so this process will take place upon arrival in the U.S.
  • Travel Documents: Ensure you retain your immigration card provided upon entry to the Cayman Islands, as you may be required to present it to an Immigration Officer upon departure.
  • Health and Safety: It is recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, as some medical procedures may require transportation to the United States for critical care. Always carry prescription medications in their original packaging along with your doctor’s prescription.

For more detailed and updated information (and for travel for non-USA citizens), you can visit the Frommer’s Cayman Islands Entry Requirements & Customs Page.

Transportation

  • Flight Information: The easiest way to reach Grand Cayman is by flying into Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM), which is well-connected with direct flights from major cities. The Westin Resort is just a short drive from the airport.
  • Taxis: Typical taxi fare (with tip) for two people with four pieces of luggage is approximately $40 USD. There is a great iPhone & Android Cayman Taxi app available. For detailed information on using taxis in Grand Cayman, including currency, credit card acceptance, and links to download the Taxi app, you can visit Explore Cayman Taxis.
  • Buses: While taxis are readily available, there is also a convenient bus service that covers many areas of the island. For more information on routes and schedules, visit Buses in Cayman.

Currency

Travelers to Grand Cayman do not need to exchange their money for Cayman Islands Dollars (KYD). US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted across the island, including in restaurants, shops, hotels, and businesses. However, be aware that change is usually given in KYD. Credit cards are also commonly accepted, providing a convenient alternative to carrying cash. If you prefer using local currency, you can exchange money at banks or ATMs on the island.

In October, Grand Cayman enjoys warm, tropical weather, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities.
